Data breakout: IL. Websites see a IL mobile IP, not a local one.
Where your data comes out
Plans for Israel break out in the destination country itself. That is unusual: on most destinations the data exits somewhere else entirely, so a local IP is the exception rather than the rule.
An exit country is not anonymity. It changes what a website sees, not who you are, and we would rather say that plainly than sell it as privacy.
Which networks you actually connect to
- Hot Mobile5G
- Cellcom5G
- Pelephone5G
In Israel these plans roam on Hot Mobile, Cellcom, Pelephone. Your phone picks whichever is strongest where you are standing - you cannot choose one, and there is no local SIM to register in your name.

No ID with us. A local SIM is a different matter
The eSIM on this page needs no ID, no document and no registration. It roams on a foreign network rather than being issued locally, so there is nothing to sign and nothing to hand over - you install it before you arrive. A local SIM bought in the country is a different matter:
Israel is one of only three destinations we sell where the data breaks out in the country itself, so you get a local IP rather than a foreign one. On almost every other destination the traffic leaves the country entirely.
SIM registration rules reviewed August 2026. They change - check before relying on this.
One of the three that stays in the country
Almost everything we sell leaves the country it covers before it reaches the internet. This is one of the few that does not, and the practical consequence is simple: local sites and services see a local address, which is the address they were built to expect. On most destinations a page that checks your location answers as though you were somewhere else entirely, and you spend the trip working around it. Here you do not. That is a convenience, not a disguise, and the operator still knows the line.
On buying a local SIM instead, we will be straight about the limits of what we could verify. Retailers describe taking a passport and registering the line to it at the point of sale, and other sources describe prepaid here as needing nothing at all. We could not find a published rule that settles it, so plan for the passport and be pleasantly surprised if nobody asks. Either way, bring the physical document rather than a photograph of it.
Arrival is the usual argument for installing before you fly. A roaming eSIM is working while you are still walking to passport control, which is worth more than it sounds on a trip where the arrival process is long and the first thing you want is a map and a message home. If you do install ours on arrival, do it on airport wifi with any VPN or private relay switched off, then turn those back on afterwards.
Coverage follows the density. The coastal strip and the centre of the country are well served, and it thins in the way emptiness always thins connectivity: in the Negev, along parts of the Dead Sea shore, around the Ramon crater and on back roads in the north. None of that is unusual in a country with real desert, but it does mean downloading the map before the drive.
The honest case against us is the number. A local line gives you an Israeli number, and if you are staying long enough that local services need to send you codes, or you are here for work rather than a week, that is worth the counter time. For a short visit, this is data that is already running and asks nothing of you.
Local rules on this page were checked in 2026-08. They change, so confirm anything you are relying on.
